Why Artists Change Their Names

Musicians, artists, movie stars, and other celebrities often alter their names. Why? I have often wondered that, and maybe you have also. I mean, who would designation their minor Lady Gaga for Pete’s sake? Personally, I employ a different designation for my visual art, as well as my writing, than I do for everything else.
