‘Glee’ star tells MTV News he didn’t know the ‘American Idol’ champ co-wrote the pop/rock tune when he received it.

We knew from his team-ups with Elton John and Gwyneth Paltrow that Matthew Morrison was intent on making his debut solo album one to remember. Now, the “Glee” actor has one more surprise up his sleeve for the May 10 release: a collaboration with “American Idol” winner Kris Allen.

On Wednesday (April 27), MTV News’ Jim Cantiello was busy chatting it up with the “Idol” alum via Skype when the singer surprised us with a special appearance from Morrison.

“I am in a special place that only one person can tell you where I’m at,” the singer teased from inside a trailer before a smiling Morrison popped in front of the webcam, decked out in his traditional Mr. Schuester getup.

Sitting side-by-side, the singers discussed how the Allen-penned tune Still Got Tonight” found its way into Morrison’s lap.

“It’s actually a funny story. I got my hands on the song. It was an amazing song, and I didn’t find out until a little later on that Kris was a writer on it,” Morrison said, adding, “It was kind of strange, ’cause he didn’t know either that I had done it.”

Allen, who co-wrote the tune with Andrew Frampton and Stephen Allen Kipner, shared a similar story. “I had no idea,” the singer admitted. “I got an email from the other writers saying ‘Urgent, urgent,’ and then I read it, and it said that Matthew Morrison was going to sing the song, and I was pretty stoked about it. That’s why we’re here today. We thought we’d hang out.”

While the two did not collaborate in the studio on the track, Morrison revealed that they shared nothing but cool vibes with each other upon their first meeting.

“We thought we’d hang out and actually meet each other and say, ‘Hey, you’re cool,’ and he said, ‘I’m cool,’ so we’re cool with each other,” Morrison said.

Asked why he wasn’t with his fellow “Glee” castmates filming an upcoming episode in New York, Morrison, assured fans that he’ll be there later in the week. “Well, I’m actually shooting all day today, and then I fly on the red eye tonight and I start shooting there tomorrow morning,” he said.

Hayden Panettiere?s heavyweight-class boyfriend Wladimir Klitschko may take charge in the boxing ring, but won?t be putting a ring on Hayden?s finger anytime soon.

In Touch caught up with Hayden at the premiere of Klitschko ? Inside the Ropes, a documentary about her boyfriend and his brother Vitali Klitschko. The Klitschko brothers are both world-class fighters who hold doctoral degrees from a top Ukrainian university. The Scream 4 star explained that marriage is ?a bridge [that] should be crossed when you?re ready to cross it. If you see marriage as a necessity you should do it, but I don?t right now.? She also adds, ?I just try to live life day-by-day and not over-think things like that.?

The 21-year-old starlet may have a case of cold feet, but that didn?t stop her from gushing over her 35-year-old beau. She added, ?He?s very clever and boxers tend to develop a very not-so-clever name for themselves? and that her man has ?an incredibility interesting and entertaining life.?

Let?s hope Wladimir doesn?t lose the fight for the top spot in Hayden?s heart!

This latest gem doesn’t sound like Nick Diaz is "playing the game." as Dana White requested last year.

Outside the cage, that means the Strikeforce welterweight champ, has to show up for drug tests and fulfill some of his media responsibilities. Do that and there could be huge paydays awaiting him in the UFC. Oh, and one more thing … don’t sign boxing contracts.

The constantly displeased Diaz told HDNet there’s no one for him to fight in Strikeforce and his life is a living hell. His trainer Cesar Gracie says the MMA star has signed a deal to fight former world champion boxer Fernando Vargas in September. Gracie says the Diaz camp is just waiting for Vargas, 33, to sign the contract.

Update – Camp Diaz says the Vargas fight is off:

"We were talking about Vargas, but the thing is, I just came under some information that Vargas apparently has some kind of medical issue where he’s not able to pass the test any more, and he could be retiring," Gracie said. "Vargas was very interested, but unfortunately, if he can’t pass the test, he can’t pass the test."

Gracie says now Diaz wants to fight Jeff Lacy.

This is all an interesting development since Scott Coker has basically indicated Diaz can’t box while under contract with Strikeforce.

Vargas claims he’s making a comeback and told ESPN.com’s Brett Okamoto in January that he had his weight down to 187 pounds. If his goal is to make a run at a world title again, why would Vargas risk his reputation by fighting someone from the MMA world? Who wants to bet this "dream" fight never comes off?

Ryan Phillippe, proud parent to Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7, with ex Reese Witherspoon, is clearly enamored with the role of dad. When the actor was asked what he loves most about being a father at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of The Bang Bang Club, he beamed. ?Everything! Everything! I can?t pick one thing!? he told In Touch.

In the film, Ryan, 36, portrays a real-life combat photographer who covered the unrest in post-apartheid South Africa in the early ?90s. At home, his life is much simpler, as he balances the pressures of fame to create a good life for his kids. ?It?s pretty easy,? Ryan said. ?I don?t work all the time, so months go by when I?m at home with the kids full time. It?s not that much of a challenge.?

It?s been an eventful year for the handsome actor. Reese recently wed Hollywood agent Jim Toth, and Ryan is rumored to have moved on with girlfriend Amanda Seyfried, 25. But controversy struck again when ex-girlfriend Alexis Knapp revealed she was pregnant with Ryan?s child in March. Until the baby is born in June, Ryan is reportedly waiting for a paternity test to confirm that he is indeed the father. But The Bang Bang Club?s director, Steven Silver, is fully convinced that Ryan will handle all of his challenges with strength and dignity. ?Ryan is tough as hell,? Steven told In Touch. ?He?s had a lot of stuff thrown at him, and he just handles it.?

I went to Petsmart yesterday to get some things for little Mary Margaret, and while I was pulling into the parking lot, I passed a lady getting out of her car with a monkey on her shoulders.

Of course I came to a screeching halt because there was a lady getting our of her car WITH A MONKEY ON HER SHOULDERS, and that’s just something you don’t see every day.

I proceeded to take a photo…

…but then thought it would be better to capture the craziness on video, so here it is:

Lady and Her Monkey Go to Petsmart from Karyn Bosnak on Vimeo.

When I told Mark about the lady and her monkey and showed him my movie, he said, “You really are crazy.” I was like, “I’m crazy? THE MONKEY WAS WEARING A DIAPER AND PEARLS.”

I mean, for real, let’s put this into perspective.

Anywho, here’s another photo of the lady and her monkey at the checkout counter:

I realize I now have one cat and two dogs, but at least I don’t walk around with a monkey on my shoulders. (Yet.)

While most couples married for just six months are still in the honeymoon phase, Teen Mom?s Leah Messer and Corey Simms were feeling as if they?d been forced into parenthood and wedlock too young ? and the tension between them was reaching a boiling point.

Leah, who filed for divorce on April 15, seems to be buckling under the tension. On April 13, at her mother?s home, she was physically ill from stress, a pal reveals. ?She was so upset and overwhelmed by the breakup that she was vomiting.?

And those feelings are understandable. Just two days earlier, Leah was locked out of the house they were staying in on his mother?s property. Minutes later, Corey came home and saw that she pushed the door in, and a huge shouting match ensued, during which witnesses heard Leah crying. And her sad mood hasn?t let up since. On April 14 ? the day before she filed for divorce ? Leah appeared noticeably ?despondent? during a dinner at Lone Star Steakhouse with the twins, says a witness, who adds that while Leah ?did sign a few autographs,? she barely smiled.

Indeed, it?s not just the stress of her failing marriage that?s been getting to her ? it?s the exhaustion of raising twin babies largely on her own. Even though Corey claims to be a hands-on dad, Leah?s friend says she can?t stand his selfish behavior toward Aliannah and Aleeah ? and the fact that he almost always puts his needs above those of the babies. From getting into shouting matches in front of the children to transferring money from their bank account in an attempt to buy a new truck for himself ? money that could have been used for Ali?s health care ? to his insistence on living at his mother?s place, which only has a stall shower, making it impossible to bathe the girls, Corey?s decisions show a distinct lack of consideration for his kids. And Leah?s worried sick at the thought of his getting even partial custody. In fact, as she gears up for court, the devoted mom is so on edge that, in desperation, the friend says, she recently asked her doctor to prescribe her anti-anxiety pills.

by Michael David SmithAs almost everyone expected, Gegard Mousasi bloodied and battered Keith Jardine on Saturday night’s Strikeforce card. But as almost no one expected, Jardine showed a tremendous amount of toughness, Mousasi had a point deducted for an illegal kick, and the result was a majority draw.

It was a mess of a fight, with Jardine’s face becoming a bloody mess and the referee calling a halt to the action three separate times: Once for an illegal kick, once for a low blow and once because Mousasi’s mouthpiece fell out. One judge scored the fight 29-27 for Mousasi, but two judges scored it a 28-28 tie.

Jason “Mayhem” Miller‘s return to the Octagon will take place in July, as he battles Aaron Simpson at UFC 132. The UFC announced the Miller-Simpson fight on Saturday, a day after Miller’s signing with the UFC was confirmed.

There’s no word yet on whether Miller-Simpson will be on the pay-per-view card, but it would be an ideal fight for a Spike TV preliminary bout. Thanks to his brash personality and his status as host of MTV’s Bully Beatdown, Miller was one of the most famous mixed martial artists outside the UFC, and his presence on a basic-cable bout would draw some eyeballs and likely reel in some casual fans to make a last-minute pay-per-view purchase.

Before their battle at UFC 129 next week, Georges St-Pierre and Jake Shields have pretty much refused to engage in trash talk. That’s because there’s an immense amount of respect between the two fighters. GSP went one step further today saying the odds on the fight are ridiculous.

"This is foolish. This is like a trap for me. I’m not going to fall into that trap. The odds are ridiculous," St-Pierre said. "Sometimes I think people don’t even know the sport. To know the sport, you have to be into it. Most of the people who make the odds they don’t even know the sport very well."

GSP said Shields would beat everyone of his previous opponents and he knew before watching past fights, that the former Strikeforce middleweight champ was going to beat Robbie Lawler and Dan Henderson.

"People forget that a guy who has good submission holds is just as dangerous as a knockout punch. You can be winning the whole fight … and at the last minute you commit a mistake and bang you have to tap," St-Pierre said (1:15 mark). "Jake Shields has a weapon that’s more dangerous than a knockout punch."

St-Pierre knows the general lack of respect for Shields puts a lot of pressure on him to win.

"People who make the odds they don’t even acknowledge the true skill set of Jake Shields. And that is something that really pisses me off," St-Pierre said. "I have the pressure of going through Jake Shields like a knife in the butter. They don’t understand the danger. People keep asking me about ‘what are you going to do next?’ It’s not what I’m going to do next. What is happening right now is the most dangerous test I ever face in my career."

St-Pierre is firing away at the wrong people when he talks about the oddsmakers. The folks who set the numbers are simply looking for two-way action. He needs to call out bettors, fans and "experts" of the sport who don’t recognize Shields as a good play at plus-350.

One can only imagine Dana White’s reaction when he heard Tito Ortiz wrecked his car. The good news is that Tito came away unscathed and it was a race car he was driving during a practice run for a celebrity event. But it’s begs the question – why is one of the most injury-prone guys in MMA putting himself at risk?

TMZ posted the photo of Tito’s trashed Toyota Scion. The gossip website claims Ortiz wrecked the car twice during a Tuesday practice run for the "Fueled by Fame" Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race on Apr. 16.

Ortiz, who has a history of neck and back problems, already bailed on a 2011 fight against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at Ultimate Fight Night 24. He’s scheduled to face Ryan Bader in July at UFC 132.

If Tito goes through with the race it is for a good cause.

On behalf of each celebrity racer, Toyota donates $5,000 to Racing for Kids every year and another $5,000 to the winning racer’s charity of choice. Racing for Kids, a national nonprofit program benefiting children’s hospitals throughout the country, (in this case, Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach and Children’s Hospital in Orange County, Calif.), was created as a way to connect sick children with their favorite celebrities and race-car drivers. Toyota has donated more than $1.9 million to various children’s hospitals since 1991, on behalf of this race and its participants.

Additionally, a $15,000 donation will be made in conjunction with the 14th-annual "People Pole Award." Sponsored by People magazine, the award honors the pole-position winner of the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race qualifying session on Friday, April 15.

Other celebrities racing include Anthony Anderson, Jillian Barberie Reynolds, Tyson Beckford, Kevin Eubanks, Dennis Haysbert, Megyn Price and Kimora Lee Simmons. The race takes place on the downtown streets of Long Beach, Ca. Insert your Quinton Jackson joke here.

First-time dad Orlando Bloom can?t seem to contain his joy over his 3-month-old son, Flynn! ?Ah, it?s amazing. It?s amazing? Orlando, 34, told In Touch of fatherhood at the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of The Good Doctor in New York City on April 22. ?He?s my boy. Amazing, it?s just ? all the things that you thought were important drift into the background and the things that are important come to the foreground. He?s one of them.?

In the film, Orlando plays a doctor who falls in love with his patient, played by Elvis Presley?s granddaughter, Riley Keough. Orlando explained, ?I get to play a doctor who falls in love with a patient, which is a big no-no. He?s a guy who is doing all the wrong things for all the right reasons. It?s a tragic love story.?

Fortunately for the talented actor, art hasn?t imitated life. Orlando seems blissfully happy with his wife, Victoria?s Secret bombshell Miranda Kerr, 28, who was his date to the premiere, and seemed to somehow have miraculously lost all the ?baby weight? after giving birth three months ago! ?She?s gorgeous,? Orlando gushed to In Touch.

Co-star Rob Morrow, an old hand at daddy duty, has bonded with Orlando about being a dad. ?We were just chatting about it. I have a 10-year-old,? Rob shared with In Touch on the red carpet. ?I was telling Orlando it gets better and better and more complicated. He was showing me a zillion pictures. I think he?s going to be great and they seem like a good couple!?

Riley added, ?I think he?s a really good father. He?s so happy and excited. It?s really sweet!?

But this week’s episode of the UFC’s reality show focused almost as much on Nijem’s personality outside the cage, where his habits — including painting his toenails and watching Glee — make him something very different from the stereotypical cage fighter.

In his weekly interview with MMAFighting.com, Nijem talked about his victory over Rader, shed a little more light on his personality outside the cage, and shared his thoughts on advancing to the next round of this season’s Ultimate Fighter tournament.

On skates, Donald Brashear could always fight with the best of them.

Can he do it bare-footed and against trained professional fighters? Brashear wants to find out.

According to the Canadian Press, the former NHL henchman, who’s still playing hockey in the minors, has signed a deal with Ringside MMA to fight in June in Quebec City.

"Despite Brashear’s lack of experience in MMA, he’s a very athletic guy, he’s in good shape, he’s gutsy, he’s learning pretty fast and showed an early interest and motivation," a Ringside MMA spokeswoman said. "Plus, he’s no stranger to fighting."

Keep in mind, Brashear is also 39 years old. The 6-foot-3, 237-pounder will have to get approval from local authories before he steps into the cage.

Brashear may want to look at MMA sparring videos with another former NHL player George Laraque. Sure he was facing one of the best in the world, but Laraque was schooled a few months ago by Georges St-Pierre.

We’re guessing the biggest test for Brashear will be conditioning and avoiding the potential adrenaline dump that happens in fighting. Baltimore Ravens safety Tom Zbikowski, who’s crossed over to professional boxing, said fighting is unlike any conventional sport.

"You have to control it in boxing, because in football maybe that first series you get real excited. The warm up in boxing is far, far more important than in football," Zbikowski told ESPN1100 in Las Vegas.

During his 17-year career, Brashear piled up 2,634 penalty minutes in 1,025 NHL games.

Cagewriter already wrote about the three biggest fight stars from Strikeforce’s show on Saturday night, but we can agree that the true breakout star from the fights was referee Mike Beltran and his mustache.

That is a work of art. He could braid his mustache into a loop, and have his own facial door knocker. He could tie each end in a bow across his mouth to protest censorship, saving money on duct tape. He could attach his glasses to his mustache, thereby eliminating the need for a glasses chain. He could have signaled the draw in the Mousasi-Jardine match by holding up both ends of the mustache.

After the death of Steve Mazzagatti’s mustache, the MMA world was in search of fantastic facial hair to take its place. Sure, Antonio Banuelos stepped up, but we needed more. Thanks, Mike Beltran, for filling that need.

UPDATE: Tracy Lee shared a picture of the ‘stache in action from one of the undercard fights. Dare I say, it is glorious.

Rashad Evans can’t catch a break. The former UFC light heavyweight champ turned to the only option he thought he had by agreeing to fight teammate Jon Jones for the title. Now Jones is out with an injury and the UFC has slotted in Phil Davis.

The Canadian Press’ Neil Davidson first reported the change.

The verbal sparring on the Internet, through blog and radio interviews, was getting pretty intense between Jones and Evans. Evans called Jones childish at one point. Jones later responded by suggesting he dominated the veteran at times during training camps.

For Evans, this is a huge blow. He loses another immediate shot at the title and gets a tough bout in Davis. The former Penn State has only fought six times with the promotion and a win over Evans  could launch him into the title chase. Evans has everything to lose in this fight rumored to be going down at UFC 133 in Philadelphia.

Evans also has to deal with the awkward scenario of possibly rejoining his team in Albuquerque. He decided to leave Jackson’s Submission Fighting and allow Jones to work with the team there. Now that it’s Davis on the docket, will he return?

John Morgan from MMAjunkie reports that Jones is still recovering from a right hand ligament injury he suffered during his win over Rua and that he faces a "long recovery."
